This is what I’m learning:
A good servant is not someone who always says “yes.” a good servant is someone who says “yes” when they know and plan on following through with a task. They say “yes” with a willing heart, not necessarily excitedly, but always willingly.
Saying “yes” all of the time leads to being tired, burned out, proud, and pitiful. The inability to say “no” is not about humility; it’s assuming that your “yes” is essential to the other person and that you are the only person who can help. Sometimes this is true, but not always.
and being a responsible servant doesn’t mean sacrificing my free time to do other things; it means cherishing my free time and using it to rest and spend time seeking God so that when my free time is over I’m ready to be a servant again, well-rested and enthusiastic.
That said…. yesterday I stupidly gave up my free time to say “yes” to things that should have received a “no.” So now I’m going to enjoy the rest of my free time.
Pray for a few campers. You don’t need to know more about them than that; God will take care of it from there.
Saying no…that is a hard thing to learn. Â
what about the empty feeling you get after you say no??
