“We don’t live, or become real, if nothing ever happens to us.”
For the most part, I don’t rage against the valleys. I trust the Author of my story.
but the valleys can sometimes feel so endless. Kind of like being stuck under clouds.
I found myself exceptionally hurt the other day.
and sometimes when I feel a little frustrated, I like to reach out to the late Madeleine L’Engle.
and in that moment, I wanted her voice.
I watched the most brilliant 50 second sermon you’ll ever hear.
It hit me hard. I re-watched it like ten times and cried each time, because… SO TRUE.
I’m not going to try and paraphrase it because it’s so good you should just watch it yourself.
“God doesn’t stop the bad things from happening; that’s never been part of the promise.
The promise is: I am with you. I am with you now until the end of time.”
I love it! Such powerful truth!
ME TOO! i watched that video probably 15 times in a row with tears in my eyes.
Ah, my Madeleine L’Engle kindred spirit 😉 this spoke to me too. I fully believe the best of us is born out of hardship. Thank you for sharing it!
yes! but it’s SO HARD to really embrace the hardship while we’re in it, you know? but we do grow through pain (which, i think, is a l’engle paraphrase!)
Yes! That quote is SO true!! We WILL face trials!!!! I love this!
yes! so it’s not about IF they come, it’s about who we are WHEN they come!
