Writing a book? There’s an app for that (Wattpad)

uncategorized

There were a few moments in my life when I thought… “you know, I should write a book.” And there were always things that got in the way. First I said I’d write a book when I got a laptop… then when I got a desk…. then a chair for the desk…. and here I am sitting in a chair, at a desk, typing on my MacBook Air… and I’m currently NOT writing a book. Guess what. I no longer have excuses.

Wattpad is an app that allows its users to write a book on a phone, tablet or computer. It connects readers and authors and provides a space for stories to be shared and commented on. It has connected over 40 million people.

One of the users of Wattpad was a girl named Anna Todd, who wrote a book entirely on her phone… and now it’s being turned into a four-part book series by Simon & Schuster, available at Barnes & Noble and for ereader.

After, a One Direction fanfic, revolves around a girl named Tessa and her on-again, off-again relationship with a character, Hardin Scott, inspired by Harry Styles… aka one of the most perfect boy band members of all time (just saying). The book has been viewed more than a billion times and has been commented on more than 6 million times. Not only is it being turned into a four-part book series, but Paramount Pictures has acquired the film rights to adapt the story for the big screen.

Let me remind you: this story was written primarily on a mobile phone in-between appointments and errands.

There goes all of our excuses.

Time to go download Wattpad and take over the writing world.

I participated in the After by Anna Todd blog program as a member of One2One Network. I received compensation but all opinions are my own.
