Empties v. 4

beauty + fashion empties uncategorized

It’s been two and a half months since I’ve done an empties post – definitely better than the time between the posts before that, but I’m still hoping to do a monthly (or maybe bi-monthly, depending on how much I’ve emptied!) empties post.

Look at all of those things I went through!!! Let’s go through them together, shall we? 🙂

YES TO COCONUT CLEANSING WIPES

I got these sent to me in a blog swap because I said I love coconut EVERYTHING. The smell of these, you guys… TO DIE FOR. and they’re really  great on your face. Sometimes wipes feel like they dry you out, or the wipes themselves are weird feeling. These are moisturizing and fresh and I’m all about them.
Replace? Already did!

SUKI FACE SCRUB

I got this teeny tiny sample in my Birchbox awhile ago and I kept it in my overnight toiletry bag… and then one day I used it and was absolutely blown away. It starts off kind of gritty, but you add some water and it suddenly has this magic foaming feel… but the gritty part is still there, so you really feel as if you’re getting a good scrub. and the smell! It’s so fresh! I love it. I bought it in the big size, and I’ve already used it up.
Replace? I leveled up, and now I need to replace the other one.

MARY-KAY CREAM EYE COLOR – VIOLET STORM

Let me be a little honest about something…. I got this eye color from Influenster…. two years ago. I haven’t used it in awhile which is why I decided to just get rid of it. I really liked the cream aspect of it, and the color (purple) was okay, but I’m more of a neutral gal, so I didn’t wear it super often.
Replace? No.

DERMA NATURAL SCAR GEL

I got this sample from BrandBacker(and I haven’t even yet reviewed it… oops). I have OCD and one of my compulsions leaves some scars. I decided this would be a great opportunity to try this product AND tackle something I’m insecure about. I’m not really sure if it worked… the scars faded a bit, but it also could have just been because of time. Things like this are a bit sketch to me.
Replace? Nope.

MARCELLE 8 in 1 SERUM

A Birchbox sample. I have no idea what it was supposed to do. I really love Birchbox but when I’m overwhelmed with samples (like I am now) I tend to switch between samples, and it makes it difficult for me to actually evaluate if I like a product or not. Unless it’s that Suki cleansing wash. Or the Eve Lom cleanser that I will one day own. Anyway. No opinion of this whatsoever.
Replace? No.

COCONUT LIME VERBENA ANTI BACTERIAL SOAP

Why do I put hand soap here? I have no idea. I stopped doing it from here on out, but whatever. It was in my little bin of empty things. I love this smell… the end.
Replace? Maybe.

NYC CHEEK GLOW

I couldn’t find the actual name of the color… oops. But I really liked it. I hate the little tiny blush brush that comes with it, though. It makes the blush go on too dark for my liking. [N.Y.C. New York Color Cheek Glow Blush , West Side Wine, 0.28 Ounce]
Replace? Already did, in another color.

MARY-KAY LASH LOVE MASCARA

Oh. My first love of mascaras. I kept the tube of mascara around for about a year after I stopped using it. My cousin got me Benefit’s Bad Girl Mascara and I LOOOVE it. But my love affair with mascara started when I got this Lash Love mascara in my Influenster Mary-Kay box. Do you know of anyone who sells Mary-Kay? I’ll be an easy sell on this one..
Replace? YES! I WANT TO SO BAD!

SOME FOUNDATION

I got this foundation as a review. I don’t know the name of it. I hated it, it was soooo thick. Not even going to acknowledge it by trying to find the name of it. Just bye.

HERBAL ESSENCES DRY SHAMPOO

I don’t wash my hair very often (I’M WEIRD I KNOW!) and sometimes that means my hair gets oily. The worst part for me is how FLAT my hair gets at the top, because my hair is already thin on the top. Dry shampoo saves my life on those days. However, I didn’t really dig this one. I like the Dove kind. This one was a little filmy for me.
Replace? No.

HARVEY PRINCE – HELLO

I don’t even know. Birchbox sends a lot of perfume samples. and I like to try a gazillion of them all the time and I never remember which ones smell like what or what I liked or not. But HEY. I USED IT UP!
Replace? Nope. {3.5/50 smelly things}

ROXY PERFUME

My dad & stepmom gave me this perfume for Christmas MANY years ago…. the problem is that I also get a lot of body sprays/mists for gifts, too. #girlproblems. It takes me FOREVER to go through ANYTHING. Which is why I have “use up 50 smelly things” on my 101 things to do in 1001 days list. I liked this scent, but not enough to turn it into a signature scent or enough to replace.
Replace? No. {4.5/50 smelly things}

ESLOR FIRMING COLLAGEN DAY CREAM

What was this supposed to do, again? :/
Replace? No.

REAL CHEMISTRY 3-MINUTE PEEL

No. Again with the not using it consistently enough to even have an idea of what it’s supposed to do. Plus I feel like it had instructions that made me feel like an idiot. But I can’t remember :/
Replace? No.

ST. IVES GREEN TEA SCRUB

Walgreens had a sale. Buy 1 St. Ives product, get a second 1/2 off plus a bunch of Walgreens rewards points. I always buy the green tea scrub in the little travel size because I loved the smell but didn’t know if I wanted to spend the money buying it. So I took the plunge. I think I was a little St. Ives’ed out for awhile, because I was SO GLAD to be done with this. I hate when I don’t wash it completely off my face because it leaves little white chalky residue.
Replace? Nope.

DERMA-E GLYCOLIC SCRUB

This is the third Empties post this has shown up on! One of them was the acne kind, which I didn’t like. This is a FANTASTIC everyday scrub to have. It’s a little spendy for an everyday face wash, but I love it so much it’s absolutely worth it for me.
Replace? Already did.

ST. IVES APRICOT SCRUB

I just assume everyone uses this scrub. I love how fresh and cleansing it is. It’s great to scrub off a long day, because it makes you feel completely rejuvenated and clean.
Replace? Yes.

GARNIER CLEAN NOURISHING CLEANSING OIL

This is actually my second empty bottle of this, but the last one kind of exploded all over at the end so I spared it public shame and quietly threw it away. Listen to me, people. RUN, don’t walk, and BUY THIS. I’ve used a variety of different makeup removing products, and this is by far my favorite. You start by rubbing it on your dry face (even on your eyes – it is AMAZING at loosening mascara) and then you rinse it off. It’s amazing.
Replace? Already did.

DICKSINSON’S PORE PERFECTING WITCH HAZEL

I’m weird and use a toner made of witch hazel and lemon juice on my face every day… well, except I haven’t for the past two months because I RAN OUT OF WITCH HAZEL and I’ve been too lazy/cheap to replace it. This is a great kind of witch hazel, too. The smell might take awhile to get used to, but it’s so great. My face is clearer than ever when this is a part of my daily routine.
Replace? Yes.

Empties v. 4 // stephanieorefice.net

Good grief. I’m not going to review every single one of these. They’re shower products. I did use up a lotion which means I’ve used up 5.5/50 smelly things.

See why I need to do one a month? They get long, I forget what I thought about the products (WOAH – maybe I should make notes of it when I finish it… DUH) && there’s SOOO MAAANNNYYYY.

Have you used any of these products before? Are you on the Birchbox train?

  1. Oh man, you’ve got a lot of empties! I feel like I go through things pretty slowly, or maybe since I just toss my empties I don’t notice (I mean, 2.5 months is a long time, I probably do have a bunch!). I’m also trying to get rid of all the random stuff I have under my sink instead of going out and buying more. I think I’m going to buy that Garnier Cleansing Oil stuff though! Thanks for the recommendation!

  2. tresemme dry shampoo is the WORST (and it’s what i’m using til it runs out and i can go buy something else!), so i’m glad you casually mentioned that the dove stuff is good! (and @BackHomeBlue:disqus i’m going to look for Not Your Mother’s brand too–so thanks for commenting that!!).
