That Would Be Me // Harry Connick Jr. album review

uncategorized

I’m really particular about music. On any given day, doing any given thing, I need music that is just right. Sometimes that is mellow and dramatic, sometimes it’s quiet and folk-y, other times it might be boybands. And sometimes you just need a smooth-like-butter voice… and who even cares what they’re singing, amiright?

Harry Connick Jr. could freaking sing the alphabet and I’d be happy as a clam, because his voice is that good.
As it should be, since he’s been singing since he was five freaking years old. No big deal, right?

Harry Connick Jr. is an all-around superstar. Acting in film, TV, broadway, in addition to his 30-year-long musical career, he is a well-known entertainer. These days he’s known for his role as a judge on American Idol, offering feedback to young musical hopefuls.
This new album, That Would Be Me, is a treasure chest of songs. My personal favorite is the first track, Smile. As soon as it comes on, I get happy. There’s something about clapping. The song starts with a clap track, came from Connick remarking that he wanted to write a happy song, clapping to find a groove and then building the song on top of that. As an avid song-clapper, I appreciate that so much.
I’ve always loved Harry Connick, Jr… but this album sealed the deal. He’s legit.
You can buy the album on iTunes and amazon.

I participated in the That Would Be Me album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided an album to review but all opinions are my own.

  1. Hey, Stephanie! I haven’t been by to visit you in a while…life just stays so busy, I don’t have time to keep up sometimes!! It was nice to catch up with you a bit! I don’t know if you are still on your minimizing journey, but in case you are, I just wanted to let you know that I posted an interview with Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist. He offers some really great insights that I think you would really appreciate. Take care, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

  2. I understand the thing about being particular about music. Sometimes I give up because I can’t find the right feel for that moment. I think Harry Connick, Jr. is just what I needed today!
