2014 Summertime Bucket List

uncategorized

Hi I’m Stephanie and I LOVE THE SUMMER!!!!!! Summer officially starts in ONE WEEK, and I am dreaming of being able to throw watermelon cubes in the sky and splash in puddles of kool aid to celebrate.

JK, a little bit.

But in anticipation of the first day of summer, I’ve created a summer bucket list!

2014 summer bucket list

#1. Try a new flavor of ice cream… or two.
I avoid dairy whenever I can… and then there’s ice cream. 🙂
When I say try a new flavor of ice cream, I don’t mean try another candy bar with caramel like  you get at Ben & Jerry’s. I mean try something crazy. Here in PDX we have Salt & Straw and Ruby Jewel. Nashville {and Columbus and Cleveland and Chicago and Charleston and Atlanta…} has Jeni’s.   Look at all those flavors! I’m ready to cross this off my bucket list like TOMORROW.

#2. Go for a hike.
Look it’s me standing on a log when me and Yumi went to Latourell Falls last summer!

Maybe I’m just the luckiest person in the whole entire world, but my corner of Earth is SO BEAUTIFUL to explore. So I have a list. Of two places. That I want to go so badly: Ramona Falls • Oneota Gorge . Even if I cannot see both of those places this summer, I just want to go be outside.

#3. BBQ
Last year was the first time I could remember being at home for the 4th of July, and did you know that apparently it’s a big thing to go to a BBQ? I didn’t go to any because I didn’t realize it was THE THING. I’m so there this year. SO THERE.

#4. Stargaze
Of all the things I miss about a summer at Camp Arnold {the kids, the Stephanie bears, the view of Rainier, the nightly campfire….} one of the things I miss every single night are the stars. I love the stars, and camp always gives a great view, whether you are sitting by the lake or laying out at a campsite. Especially when you can see Altair, my favorite summertime star.

#5. Make Popsicles
How about… Cranberry Lemonade? or  PINEAPPLE ORANGE BANANA? or Watermelon Cucumber? Cantaloupe!!!? How about all of them??

#6. Go on a picnic

#7. Bowling

#8. Spend a day at the beach

#9. Camping
I’ve never been proper camping! Just sleeping outside on a tarp. I want to sleep outside in a tent near a fire that is used to make meals and coffee. That’s my biggest dream for this summer. CAMPING!

#10. Bonfire with friends

#11. Berry picking
Preferably outside of the blackberry family. I recently went strawberry picking but it was a little bit anticlimactic. We ended up buying raspberries and cherries and HONEY STICKS GALORE because honey sticks are… oh my gosh. They’re so great. So yeah. Honey sticks are heaven tubes and berry picking should happen.

#12. Float down the river
So. ready.

#13. Farmers market
Flowers, local goods, fresh fruit… yeah. You know what else they usually have at farmers markets? FREAKING HONEY STICKS! Okay now that we’re talking about honey sticks….

#14. Have a Pinterest Party
My “try this at home” board is at over 201 pins. That’s a CRAP TON of projects to do, and I know I am not the only person who pins more than creates… so why not get a bunch of my friends together and do a little teamwork makes the dreamwork-ing?

#15. DIY Shorts
Two summers ago Emily and I DIY’ed some shorts out of jeans we bought at Goodwill. And it’s been brought to my attention that since I wear mine basically EVERY TIME THE SUN IS OUT, I should probably make a new pair. I have 4 pairs of jeans waiting to be made into shorts. With lace at the bottom. This is gonna happen.

#16. Summer playlist
In 2004 I had an unintentional summer playlist. It was just a bunch of songs I put on a mix cd and listened to nonstop. These are the songs that defined my summer 10 years ago {OMG! TEN YEARS AGO!? What!!!?}

  •  Follow Through by Gavin DeGraw
  • Sucker by John Mayer
  • Don’t Wake Her by Ian McGlynn
  • Cheer Up, Baby by Dolour
  • Frontin by Jamie Cullum

That was also the first summer I had ever had a caramel frappuccino from Starbucks, so those songs make me think of caramel frappuccinos. I can already tell you a few songs on this year’s summer playlist: WILDFIRE by John Mayer, Something More by Dave Barnes… probably like every Ben Rector song ever.. we’ll just have to see. I’ll make sure to post it once the CD is burned.

#17. Send Postcards
REAL MAIL IS WHERE IT’S AT. Anybody want/need a postcard from Vancouver, Washington? I already bought some, just saying….

So that’s my summer bucket list. Any of your own to add?? Linking up with I Am Mrs. K’s Blog challenge {which I am co-hosting this month!}.

Also! I LOOOOVE this summer list printable. I might have to print it out for myself. 🙂
