Before I could write about Nashville, part three I felt it only appropriate to finish my “to be continued…” from half a year ago when I visited Nashville for the first time. It is the continuation of this post.
Friday, September 13th.
My friend Amanda came and took me to lunch, which was the first time since Monday that I’d been away from the Halters. Separation anxiety for sure. I returned after that and we got ready to go to Jeni’s ice cream, where my friend Travis took custody of me. All the girls were ready and waiting on Ernie.
But then we finally left. 🙂
Staying with Travis and Megan was one of the most wonderful things in the world. They live out in the quiet. Late at night, we stood outside in the wet grass looking at the stars for as long as our feet could handle it. I spent all night convincing my toes they were nice and cold even after I was cozied up in my bed.

Spending the day with them was perfect.
They dropped me off at the airport where I got a rental car and zoomed to Lebanon, where I stayed with some old friends who used to live in the northwest.
Sunday, September 15th
Got ready for church with the sweet Wikle family. I started a new thing where I let kids draw in the back of my journal, and it’s been a lot of fun. We had some extra time, so Eva and I had an impromptu photo shoot.
Afterwards I spent the day with my friends Chuck and Kirstin, where we went from one coffee place to another… starting with CREMA. Years ago, I somehow discovered a flickr photostream full of pictures of Crema being built, and I decided I wanted to visit it. It was everything I’d imagined it would be.
Then I finally made my way home to the Halters, where Kristen and Ernie tore the house up looking for a bottle of kefir… before the bottle found them.

Then came the hardest day, goodbye day. Let me just say that this picture destroys me every time I look at it. I took it as I was driving away. I hate to be all like “this trip changed my life,” but it kind of did. My trips are usually north-south from Seattle to Los Angeles, and suddenly I realized that there’s the entire United States that I’ve never had the chance to explore or get to know.
What a fun time! I was sent here by Shane to say hello! Hi!! The adorable bow and outfit caught my eye! I’ve never been to Nashville, but it looks sooo cool!
