Empties Vol. 6

beauty + fashion empties

empties v. 6 // stephanieorefice.net

Holy guacamole! It’s already time for my monthlyish empties update.

Right now I’m on vacation (holla!!!) and between getting ready for vacation and getting busy, my unstuffing kind of took a pause. BUT. I am still going hard at using up all of the smelly/beauty things. and I had this crazy idea that I should treat using up my beauty products like the Dave Ramsey debt repayment method – you know, the snowball thing? SMALLEST FIRST. That’s why there’s lots of tiny things this month.

CLEAN & CLEAR MORNING BURST CLEANSER // target
This is kind of my travel face scrub staple. I refuse to use it in the evening so it’s actually become something that’s made me think GOOD MORNING! every time I use it. It’s a pretty good basic to have in your travel bag.

ST IVES BLEMISH CONTROL GREEN TEA SCRUB // amazon
Two months ago I shared my opinion on the full sized product here, and those opinions still remain true.

GILCHRIST & SOAMES SPA THERAPY BODY WASH // birchbox
I received this sample as a bonus sample in a Birchbox order. I’d already received it in a Birchbox before.. it was your basic body wash, except that I didn’t actually love the scent.

ST IVES APRICOT SCRUB // target
Previously reviewed here.

LATHER MINT THYME HAIR WASH & YUZU BERGAMOT CREME RINSE // amazon wash + amazon rinse
When Becky and I had a sleepover in a hotel back in December, she let me keep the little free hotel samples which was AWESOME because I love tiny smelly things. I LOOOOVED the scents of all of the LATHER products. They are so unique smelling and I’m a huge fan.

BEAVER PROFESSIONAL HYDRO NUTRITIVE REPAIRING CONDITIONER // birchbox
Received this in a Birchbox, along with the shampoo. Liked it enough, but I’m really trying to step away from all of the shampoo/conditioner because I miss the no-poo feeling of my hair.

BEAUTY PROTECTOR PROTECT + SHAMPOO // birchbox
Okay except I know I just said I’m stepping away from the shampoo/conditioners, but I’m ALL ABOUT the Beauty Protect line that I discovered through Birchbox, mostly because I LOVE the smell… it reminds me of the old mary-kateandashley hair care line that I LOOOOOVED when I was younger.

MINIONS BANANA SCENTED BODY WASH // amazon
Listen, I just freaking love the smell of bananas, okay? Don’t judge.

YES TO COCONUT CLEANSING WIPES // target
Previously reviewed here.

TEMPTU S/B HIGHLIGHTER // birchbox
Okay… I have no idea of what to do with this. I’ve had it for a year. Goodbye.

STILA LOOK AT ME LIPSTICK // birchbox
Honestly, I loved EVERYTHING about this product except the loud color. I loved the way it went on, the way it lasted… but I couldn’t get past the weird dark coral-y color. I wanted to love it, but I’m just not that brave.

YOUNGBLOOD MINERAL PRIMER // amazon
I received this as an add-on sample with one of my Birchbox orders. Every time I used it, it would make my BB Cream get really flaky. Maybe I need to wait longer between applying the two products, but I’ve had this for a LONG time and haven’t bothered to try. Sorry primer.

STILA ONE STEP BRONZER // birchbox
Yikes you guys, this was from my FIRST EVER Birchbox. I stopped using it when I realized that it made my face REALLY shiny, like in this picture of me and my friend Andrew from like… 4 years ago or something crazy like that:

// stephanieorefice.net

yet another beauty product I have no idea how to use.

DR JART+ PREMIUM BB CREAM // birchbox
It should be absolutely no secret by now that I’m absolutely in love with the Dr. Jart+ BB Creams… but this one didn’t do anything for me. It was a little too thick and made me feel like it was OBVIOUS I was wearing a cream, which is supposed to be the beauty of BB Creams… they’re so discreet. No thanks.

DR JART+ WATER FUSE BB CREAM // birchbox
Yes. Get used to seeing this because it’s my favorite. I currently have 3 tubes of it. One in my bathroom, one as a backup for when that runs out and one in my travel bag because I refuse to be caught anywhere without it. This BB Cream is everything.

SOMEDAY BY JUSTIN BIEBER TOUCHABLE BODY LOTION // amazon
Reviewed the body wash here. (7/50 smelly things)

ESSENTIEL ELEMENTS WAKE UP ROSEMARY BODY LOTION // birchbox
This is the mintyish lotion ever. It weirdly helped my whole body feel very… uh… breathable? I loved the way it was so fresh and soft. The bottle was ridiculously difficult to use, but I loved the lotion. (7.5/50 smelly things)

TISSAN BODY CREAM // birchbox
Another bonus sample… I waited too long to use it, probably YEARS. When I opened it, the consistency of it just wasn’t normal AT ALL. Having so much stuff is detrimental! You forget to use what you have and then you waste it! Ugh, sorry Tissan Body Cream.

GOT2B SPA FOOT LEG WORK //
Y’all. Let me just say that I graduated from high school over 10 years ago, and I definitely owned this is high school. Half of me wanted to finish it off and half of me was like “just let it go.” and let it go I did. I remember back in the day that I loved the cooling sensation it had on my feet and legs while I used it.

CAMILLE BECKMAN HAND THERAPY // birchbox
ANOTHER SAMPLE WASTED I AM SO SORRY LITTLE SAMPLE. Birchbox is amazing but if you let yourself get overwhelmed… I’m starting to see how wasteful it can be! I opened it to use it and realized the consistency was weird, just like the other body cream.

HARVEY PRINCE AGELESS BODY CREAM // birchbox
Liked it. It was just like every other body cream, though. :/ (8/50 smelly things)

VICTORIA’S SECRET BOMBSHELL BODY LOTION // amazon
As you might have noticed in my very first Unstuffing post, I have a freaking crap ton of Victoria’s Secret smelly things. My family likes to give the little sets as Christmas gifts which would be FANTASTIC if I wasn’t so freaking overwhelmed with all of my smelly things. But I’ve discovered that I REALLY love the Bombshell fragrance. I have the perfume and a few bottles of the lotion, so I’ll be able to smell like it for awhile. (8.5/50 smelly things)

JUSTIN BIEBER SOMEDAY PERFUME // amazon
Reviewed the body wash here. (9.5/50 smelly things)

JOAN VASS L’EAU DE AMETHYSTE PERFUME // birchbox
The tiny perfume samples are going to be the hardest to keep track of because I’ll be able to get through them, but I want to remember what I thought of each one. This one reminded me of CLEANING PRODUCTS. It made me sneeze a lot. Thanks but no thanks. (10/50 smelly things)

HAVVN NIGHT CREAM // birchbox
Waited too long to try this. On the one hand this is so incredibly sad but also encouraging because it’s one less tiny bottle I have to look at and feel bad about. Soon I’ll be able to try my samples as soon as I get them and not feel like they’re one needle in a haystack.

SHISEIDO IBUKI REFINING MOISTURIZER // birchbox
Finally a product I was able to use. First of all, if you put a cream moisturizer in a non-squeezable bottle… you are one of THOSE PEOPLE. That was really obnoxious, but I pushed through. I liked this moisturizer enough, but there was nothing really special about it.

LA FRESH OIL FREE FACE CLEANSER // birchbox
The fact that this is a face cleanser wipe is AMAZING. I absolutely LOVED this. When I’m “on the go,” (that sounds like such a hoity toity phrase) I tend to just use the Yes to Coconuts wipes (which I’m ALWAYS worried will dry out if I don’t close the lid) or makeup removers. I loved that these are individually wrapped – you could keep a few in your purse for emergency purposes. Love it so much.

JUICE BEAUTY GREEN APPLE PEEL // birchbox
Don’t even talk to me about how long I waited to use this because I was really sad when the consistency didn’t seem at all right and I realized I’d been hoarding it for 2 years.

JUICY COUTURE HAIR MIST //
Back in the day, I got my first “grown up” job. I didn’t make TONS of money, but I made SOMETHING. One day I went shopping with one of my co-wordkers and I ALMOST bought the Juicy Couture perfume but at that point in my life, $75 was a HUUUUGE purchase (still is to some extent) so I kind of weenied out and bought the cheapest version of the smell I loved, which happened to be a hair mist. I’ve been consistently using it for almost 7 years at this point – I just use so little at a time that it’s taken years to empty. But I finally did. and I have no more Juicy Couture perfume. So I’m sad. Luckily I have a gazillion Juicy perfume samples from Birchbox 🙂

TN DICKINSONS WITCH HAZEL // amazon
Always. I use this + lemon as a face toner every day and I love it.

10/50 smelly things for my 101 in 1001.

PS THIS BLOG POST TOOK LIKE A FREAKING HOUR TO INSERT ALL THE LINKS AND STUFF. How do I get one of those accounts where you just scroll through and click products listed in the post because SERIOUSLY. I need that like yesterday. Peace sign emoji.

    1. well i haven’t ever actually used foundation so i can’t really compare it! but it’s more of a balm… i personally think it’s pretty light weight and just kind of does an overall evening out of my skin. it doesn’t feel as much like makeup as a thicker, tinted lotion. if that makes sense? but i wouldn’t actually know haha.

  1. I want a good BB cream! For when I’m lazy and don’t want to do my makeup (6 days a week?). And dang girl you got through a lot! Even if some were just ones that you had to throw out. BUT that still totally counts towards unstuffing so you’re golden.

    1. i only have super positive things to say about the dr jart+ bb cream! though i will say that i am currently also using an olay kind that i bought at target as well, and it’s pretty good too! just in case you want to try some without too much of a commitment, haha.

  2. first of all, amazon sells victoria secret stuff?! (i just got a coupon for their free underwear, no purchase necessary, and i was like THIS IS WHY YOU GUYS ARE SO AWESOME. my freebie/cheapskate self rejoiced.) and also, st. ives green tea blemish scrub sounds delightful!!
