Five of Fifty + My dad’s Christmas present!

A few weeks ago, I had the good fortune of winning TWO $10 gift cards from Lauren‘s giveaway, one from Mary and one from Whitney. I immediately thought, “I’ll get something for my dad with these!” But as I kept pestering my dad for a Christmas list, I realized he didn’t really WANT anything.

Around the same time, KATU ran this segment about The Salvation Army’s drop in donations. That is MY CHURCH. Captain Dwayne is my pastor, I eat dinner off of those blue trays with the kids every week.. and I knew exactly how I would spend the $20 at Target on my dad.

This morning we spent the gift cards  buying food to put on the shelves of our food pantry.

So.. THANK YOU, Mary & Whitney. Your gift multiplied: I got mail (YEAHHH!!!), my dad got a Christmas present, and families in need got food.

After dropping off the food, I took my dad out to lunch at Bushel and Peck. I adore this place. My turkey sandwich.. so good. I had a mocha with my lunch, which helped me inch closer to TWO of my 101’s – take my parents out to eat and try 25 new coffee shops.

{11-15/50 Questions that will free your mind}

11. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire.  They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend.  The criticism is distasteful and unjustified.  What do you do?
The people I respect and admire the most tend to be people who wouldn’t ever be a part of conversation like this, but for the sake of playing along… I’d probably disagree with them and change the conversation.

12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
Love like it’s the only thing you know how to do.

13. Would you break the law to save a loved one?
It depends on what the law is. Would I speed in order to get someone to a hospital? Yes. Would I murder or steal… probably not.

14. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
No. I tend to see things more as creative than insane as it’s happening.

15. What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
Unload the dishwasher. I like to take it all out and stack it on the counter before I put it away. I used to put milk in before my cereal. I put creamer in before my coffee so I don’t have to stir it together. Apparently I sit weird when I paint my toenails.
