Lately I’ve been thinking a LOT about friendships. I mean A LOT. My friends are always on my mind and I’m starting to feel an ache in my heart when I think about them because I miss them! and I’m pretty excited because they’ve agreed to be a part of something really cool I want to do on my blog – but it’ll be awhile before that comes up.
The other night I was texting my best friend and I thought “I just love Emily. She is the greatest.”
Here’s the thing that is really so cool about me and Emily. When I first met her, she was 10. I was 18. and I was her BABYSITTER. Kid you not. Look at this:
For a few months, I lived with her family. Eventually their job moved them from Seattle to San Francisco and I was HEARTBROKEN. So then I went to San Francisco…. a LOT. Because by then, Emily had grown into more than a kid I babysit. She became my soul sister.
And Emily and I love to laugh. and look at bridal magazines. and drink coffee. and eat salsa. But mostly we really love to laugh.
Luckily she moved back to Seattle for school. And I cannot believe this, but she is GRADUATING COLLEGE this year. WHAT!!!??!
If you’d ever pointed at the little ginger 10-year-old in childcare and said “that girl is going to be your best friend in 12 years” I would have laughed at you. I’m glad I didn’t know, because it’s been so fun to watch her grow and to grow myself because of her and her love.
I’m excited that we have life to live together – in the highs and the lows and the average everyday in-between. She is the very best.
