EMPTIES v. 9

EMPTIES v 9 // stephanieorefice.net

Empties, vol. 9. This has taken awhile because I kept thinking “my little tub of empty stuff isn’t full yet!” and then when I went to add something, I realized that it WAS full… but there were a lot of little things.

But first.

Can we all just heart eyes emoji over the cute little heart stand that I got for 70% off at Target? THANK YOU post-Valentine’s Day sales!

EMPTIES v 9 // stephanieorefice.net

ST IVES EVEN & BRIGHT SCRUB
I feel like it’s my duty as a female to own at least one St. Ives scrub at any given time.. but I’m going to take a break. The smell of this one is great, but it’s not as scrubby as I’d like. Does anybody have a good everyday, drug store face wash/scrub? I don’t like the ones that are only foamy.

THE BODY SHOP MADAGASCAN VANILLA FLOWER shower gel (14.5/50 smelly things)
Picked this up at TJ Maxx to put in my travel bag. I like the warm smell of it. Nothing to write home about, though. Sometimes you just get something because it’s cheap and you need it, haha.

W3LL PEOPLE EXPRESSIONIST MASCARA
This came in a Birchbox. It was okay, but definitely not my favorite. I realized that makeup has expiration dates so I started to clean out products that were old + I didn’t use enough to justify keeping around.

GARNIER NOURISHING CLEANSING OIL
If you’ve been around + paid attention to these Empties posts, you’ll know that I LOVE THIS CLEANSING OIL! Seriously. Volume 7, Volume 4. It’s my favorite. Well guess what. THEY DON’T SELL IT IN STORES ANYMORE. Sobbing. all the sobbing. I’m trying to replace it but I think it might be worth it to stock up enough for the rest of my life.

DAVINES ALL IN ONE MILK TREATMENT
This is basically a detangler that smells a little soap-y. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it… it takes a lot for me to get excited about a product.

AGELESS by HARVEY PRINCE (14.75/50 smelly things)
According to the notes in my phone: “Ageless by Harvey Prince made me sneeze really bad. Smelled fresh but like house cleaner fresh.” 🙂

DISNEY RESORTS H20+ SHAMPOO
From when I stayed at Disneyland. Using this up made me sad.

BAMBOO COLOR CARE UV+ FADE-PROOF FLUIDE
Yeah… I just decided to toss this one because I’ve had it for SO LONG.

TOCCA GREEN TEA + LEMON NOURISHING BODY SCRUB (15/50 smelly things)
This was a bonus sample with a Birchbox purchase. I like the smell of it – I tried a body wash in this same scent before but it’s scrubbier. and if you haven’t caught on, I’m all about the scrub 😉

DR. BRANDT MICRODERMABRASION SKIN EXFOLIANT
Speaking of scrub. This came in a Birchbox (see how I find out about EVERYTHING?) and I LOVED IT. You slowly rub it in for awhile – the scrubby bits are small and they really get to work. LOVED this. I’m still not at a place where I need to be purchasing beauty products, but I’d definitely be interested in purchasing this again.

ENGLISH LAUNDRY NO 7 (15.25/50 smelly things)
Got this from (guess where!!!)…. Birchbox. This scent is soft and clean. When I first got it, I was ALL about buying it, but after using it for a week I realized I like scents that are more fruity or floral.

EOS SHAVE CREAM VANILLA BLISS
This is my favorite kind of shave cream, especially because it works just as well on dry legs as it does in the shower. I’ve been faithfully buying this shave cream for 5 years. I highly recommend it, and now I’ve tried ALL the smells… and they’re all great!

empties v 9 // stephanieorefice.net

ELF MASCARA PRIMER
Last year I finally threw away the Mary Kay lash primer I got in a VoxBox and have been trying to find one I like just as much. This Elf primer? No thanks. I’ve used it for about a year, and I’m not a fan. It’s white, so if I forget to put mascara on afterwards (WHICH HAS HAPPENED!) then my eyelashes are all light and weird. NO THANK YOU!

BENEFIT BAD GAL LASH
My cousin gave this to me for Christmas 2014. I FELL IN LOVE. This is one of the best mascaras I’ve found so far. Once, my dentist didn’t believe my eyelashes were real when I was wearing this mascara. It really makes your lashes long and full.

COVERGIRL SUPER THICK LASH
Let’s be honest… I don’t actually want THICK lashes. I liked that this bottle was pink, and I bought it once when I’d gone on a trip without mascara… but no thank you. I tried it a few times and it never really grew on me.

ALBA BOTANICA TOXIN RELEASE SCRUB
I REALLY LIKED this scrub, but it was kind of expensive for what I got out of it. It didn’t last me very long. I guess if it was on sale or I had a gift card, I wouldn’t mind buying a couple of these for use in the future, but I was just disappointed at how quickly it ran out.

MARY-KATEANDASHLEY SATIN SHIMMER EYESHADOWS
LOL you guys, I’ve had this for like 10 years. It’s time to throw it away, because I’ve used it maybe twice. 🙂

DR. JART+ PORE MINISH PRIMER
Birchbox win! This + a video I watched on YouTube convinced me that I should start using pore minimizing primers. I LOVED this! It’s great how it kind of blurs your pores. I’d eventually love to invest in this.

ESSENCE EYESHADOW IN HELLO GOLDIE
Let’s discuss the colors I love to wear on my eyelids: nude and gold, period. Awhile ago I went on this massive hunt to buy drugstore gold eyeshadows. This one was really good, especially given how inexpensive it is. You can tell by the wear on the package that I never went on a trip without it. I highly recommend this.

empties v 9 // stephanieorefice.net

SUKI EXFOLIATE FOAMING CLEANSER
YES! THIS! I just realized.. this is the best cleanser. Despite its $30+ price, I’ve purchased it a few times from Birchbox (using my Birchbox points to soften the financial blow). It smells SO GOOD – like a lemon drop! It starts like a gritty scrub but as you massage it into your face it turns into a foam. I’m in love. Everyone should try this at least once in their lives!

CLEAN + CLEAR MORNING BURST HYDRATING GEL
I have a problem with buying travel sized products. This one was actually in my car for a long time. Then I got tired of looking at it, realized it’s probably expired and decided to throw it away.

AYRES BODY POLISH
Got this as a sample in Birchbox. Nothing special.

DAVINES REPLUMPING HAIR FILLER
This smells ultra soapy. It was okay. Nothing spectacular. Much better hair products out there, in my opinion.

PURA D’OR ARGAN OIL
Someone help me use Argan Oil. I tried it on my face. and my hair. and my arms. and I just can’t love it. Anyone else?

Empties v. 8

MAN!

It feels freaking good to be back on track a little with my blogging. I have lots of ideas and blog posts and dreams and… hold on let me sip my coffee.

I took some time off of blogging – it was probably just a few weeks but I shook off the constant nagging NEED to post. and now I freaking want to post.

So let’s talk about one of my random uncluttering projects: my smelly, beauty product things. It’s been about a month or so.

Empties volume 8 // stephanieorefice.net

This month, I put a little more focus on using up the trial sized perfumes I have. They’re really easy to collect and overlook and it takes a weird amount of discipline to work through a very small amount of product consistently.

Empties volume 8 // stephanieorefice.net

I kept little notes of these in my phone so that I could remember how I felt about them. I’m ridiculously proud of myself. Little victories, right?

Harvey Prince – Journey (11.75/50 smelly things)
“Smells fresh and clean, like cleaner, kinda.”

Harvey Prince – Yogini (12/50 smelly things)
“Fresh and warm but not overpowering”

Joan Vass – L’eau de Cristal (12.25/50 smelly things)
Not the hugest fan, though I can’t remember why.

Helmut Lang (12.5/50 smelly things)
This was so earthy and warm and woodsy. It’s a perfect cozy weather perfume.

Viva La Juicy – Noir (12.75/50 smelly things)
I’m a big fan of all the Juicy.

Viva La Juicy (13/50 smelly things)
This is one of the most fun perfumes ever. I love how fruity and bright it is, quite the contrast to the plain old regular Juicy Couture perfume (which was one of my first perfumes I fell in love with). I love shopping the after-Christmas sales because they have perfume gift sets usually half off; I am kind of considering looking for a set of this… but then it seems like taking a huge step backwards in decluttering my things.

Revlon Age Defying CC Cream
Every so often, Target has a whole bunch of stuff on massive clearance and I am a freaking sucker for that stuff. Earlier this year, they had a lot of beauty products on sale so I decided to try some stuff out. I’d received a sample of CC cream in a Birchbox, but it was too dark, so I decided to try out different kinds. I got a darker one and a lighter one in anticipation of summer (I tan easily). I really liked this CC cream – a huge difference between this and BB Cream is that CC Cream is definitely thicker and it’s focused more on balancing your color. It feels a lot more like wearing makeup than BB Cream does.

I liked these and had planned on using them until they ran out, but I noticed they started leaking oil… what the heck. I wonder if they were on clearance because they were close to the expiration date or something, I don’t know. But it got messy and I decided that I was okay with just my BB Cream.

purminerals CC Cream
This was the CC Cream I had started with, and like I said it was too dark for me to really get a good idea of how I would like this product but it did pique my interest in CC Cream, so that’s good I guess 😉

MAC studio finish concealer
Good news: I’ve had this product for a lot longer than I’m going to admit. There was a time, almost 10 years ago, that I walked into Nordstrom and asked the lady at the MAC counter to help me with my blemishes. She hooked me up with this concealer, which is the only thing I wore for awhile. I found it while I was cleaning out my bathroom and realized it’s probably way beyond expired, and I might need to re-purchase this.

ELF Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow
YES. I am so excited I found it online; I bought this on a whim because I was trying to replace my favorite creamy gold Julep eyeshadow that I’d used up. I LOVE this eyeshadow, and was so incredibly sad to use it up. I have about 4 other creamy gold eyeshadows that I picked up in an attempt to replace this, so I’ll be using those for awhile… but definitely replacing it.

Model Co Shimmer Bronzing Powder
Okay so I saw a video of a girl using a bronzer and I thought “oh okay, I can do this…” yeah… no. Maybe this bronzer is too dark, maybe I’m just an idiot… but I looked so dumb with this stuff on. Anyone want to teach me?? Also, does anybody who knows how to use bronzer want to try this out? I’ll send it to you, just e-mail me (stephanieorefice @ gmail.com) your address. I’ll send it to the first person who claims it.

Empties V. 8 // stephanieorefice.net

Macadamia Healing Oil Spray
This product lasts forever, heads up. I started LOVING the earthy smell of this spray, and over time as I kept faithfully using it… day after day after day…. I got so over it. It never made my hair greasy, which I was so grateful for. I would spray about 5 pumps into my hand, rub my palms together and smooth it over my hair before putting it in a twisted bun to let it penetrate the hair.

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum
Crap, you guys. I forgot how I felt about this. Sorry. :/ Guess I should be keeping more than just notes on my perfumes, right?? haha.

Pura D’Or Argan Oil Shampoo
I received this shampoo back in March for a review. I loved the small of this and the conditioner, but I’m still slowly moving away from buying/using shampoo, but I would definitely recommend this shampoo!

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion (13.25/50 smelly things)
This sample is stupid small, that’s all I have to say about that. So IDK.

Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Glycolic Scrub
Love this stuff so much! I initially got it as a freebie in one of my Birchbox orders, and I keep replacing it because I love it so much. I’ve tried the one specifically for acne, but I love this one even more. It’s not too harsh, but definitely offers a scrub.

Previse Hydromilk
Loved this moisturizer. I hope I was supposed to use it on my face because I did and I really liked it. This little sample lasted for awhile, so I know the full size product would last me a long time.

Derma E hydrating night cream
As a fan of Derma E, I was so excited to try out a different kind of product from them! I LOVED this night cream. It wasn’t greasy (which I always am looking for, because the thought of laying on my pillows with a greasy face makes me want to puke). It had a really nice scent, too. I woke up with my face feeling soft and refreshed. All the yes on this one!

The Organic House Lavender + Lemon Body Wash (14.25/50 smelly things)
Picked this up at every blogger’s favorite store, TJ Maxx. I’m all about the earthy, natural scents these days and this stuff lasted me a really long time. So yeah, it’s nice. IDK what else to say about body wash.

Whish Body Butter in Blueberry
It’s on my list of goals to buy the Whish shaving cream, so when I got a chance to try another of their products I was stoked. But, alas… lotion is lotion, you know?

Resist Moisture Renewal Oil Booster
This was a good little sample. It wasn’t – wait for it – greasy or oily, even though it’s oil. So weird how oil is so cool, you know? I spent my whole life learning that oil + my face = no. Oh well.

I’ve made a little widget full of the products in this post all around the internet. Have you used any of them?

SO EXCITED TO THROW THESE ALL AWAY! NEW MONTH! BOOM! I’m plowing through this product problem.

Empties V .7

empties volume 7 // stephanieorefice.net

After last month’s MASSIVE spree of going through products, this was a fairly normal month. A few full-sized products and DESTROYING my collection of trial/travel sized stuff.

I realized that to some extent, my empties posts are actually part of my decluttering. Like a long-term mission to declutter my bathroom. Because SERIOUSLY, you guys… my bathroom is a HOT MESS.

ALL. THE. THINGS. I have so many beauty products and smelly things and I just want to keep using them up. For half a second, I considered just getting rid of stuff so that I can seriously de-clutter what’s left, BUT I think there’s a lot of value in forcing myself to use up products. Some de-clutterers would disagree, but I think I run a greater risk of immediately replacing what I’ve thrown away as opposed to what I’ve used up, if that makes sense.

ANYWAY. Moving on. Things that I’ve gone through in September!

empties volume 7 // stephanieorefice.net

HERBAL ESSENCES DRY SHAMPOO // amazon

Awhile ago I reviewed this and when I re-read it… I realized it’s still true. It was filmy and made my hair feel weird sooooo… I was over it. No thank you.

SIENNA NATURALS MOISTURIZING LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER // birchbox

From Birchbox. I really liked this leave-in conditioner, but I don’t think it’s worth investing in the full-size product.

BEAVER PROFESSIONAL HYDRO NUTRITIVE REPAIRING CONDITIONER // birchbox

Wasn’t anything great.

JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ EASE BEYOND SMOOTH SHAMPOO // target

I’m trying to cut back on my shampooing. That makes it sound like I eat shampoo. I don’t. But I want to get back into the no-poo thing. HOWEVER. I really liked this shampoo. My hair felt really soft after I used it.

DOVE DRY SHAMPOO // amazon

YES YES YES. This, so far, is STILL my favorite. It takes away the greasiness of my scalp but doesn’t make my hair feel filmy. I tried using that Herbal Essence dry shampoo when this ran out, and I was so disappointed. I’m trying another kind right now as well… but I might have to always keep this on hand if I feel the need to try new things.

empties vol 7 // stephanieorefice.net

PARIS AMOUR LOTION (full + travel size) // amazon

I LOOOVE this scent. I think I used to have a candle of it! I’ve been trying to use lotion on my legs a lot because as weird as this is… I love when I get home from work and change into my pajamas and then I am reminded that I put lotion on my legs in the morning.

(11.5/50 smelly things for my 101 in 1001)

AVEENO POSITIVELY SMOOTH SHAVE GEL // target

I was hoping to try a new kind of EOS (the lavender or vanilla kind) but they didn’t have it at Target! So instead, I grabbed this Aveeno shave gel. I wasn’t really a fan of it. It didn’t have a super pleasant smell and it didn’t feel spectacular or anything.

empties vol 7 // stephanieorefice.net

RIMMEL LONDON JUST LET IT GO MAKEUP REMOVER

I got this in an Influenster VoxBox last year. I really liked this, but I can’t find it anywhere! Has anybody used this before? Or does anyone have any good eye makeup removers to recommend?

MARCELLE CLAY MASK // birchbox

I think I’ve said it before; masks kind of all feel the same after awhile, but I REALLY liked this one. Enough to buy it? No, because I have too many and I’m cheap. But I really liked it.

ACURE DAY CREAM // target

I LOVED THIS! I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!! I still have a lot of serum/moisturizers to go through, but once I’m ready to invest in a daily facial moisturizer… this is it. It made my face feel soft and moisturized but not greasy. I love it.

MARCELLE GENTLE EYE MAKEUP REMOVER // birchbox

I kept this in my travel bag, but when the Rimmel kind ran out I started using this.. not a fan. It wasn’t as effective as the other kind. Next.

MARCELLE ENERGIZING HYDRATING GEL // birchbox

Loved this. It actually made my face feel more energized when I put it on, which was like MAGIC! I don’t know if I’d ever buy it… because how many products does one person need?

Empties Vol. 6

empties v. 6 // stephanieorefice.net

Holy guacamole! It’s already time for my monthlyish empties update.

Right now I’m on vacation (holla!!!) and between getting ready for vacation and getting busy, my unstuffing kind of took a pause. BUT. I am still going hard at using up all of the smelly/beauty things. and I had this crazy idea that I should treat using up my beauty products like the Dave Ramsey debt repayment method – you know, the snowball thing? SMALLEST FIRST. That’s why there’s lots of tiny things this month.

empties v. 6 // stephanieorefice.net

CLEAN & CLEAR MORNING BURST CLEANSER // target
This is kind of my travel face scrub staple. I refuse to use it in the evening so it’s actually become something that’s made me think GOOD MORNING! every time I use it. It’s a pretty good basic to have in your travel bag.

ST IVES BLEMISH CONTROL GREEN TEA SCRUB // amazon
Two months ago I shared my opinion on the full sized product here, and those opinions still remain true.

GILCHRIST & SOAMES SPA THERAPY BODY WASH // birchbox
I received this sample as a bonus sample in a Birchbox order. I’d already received it in a Birchbox before.. it was your basic body wash, except that I didn’t actually love the scent.

ST IVES APRICOT SCRUB // target
Previously reviewed here.

LATHER MINT THYME HAIR WASH & YUZU BERGAMOT CREME RINSE // amazon wash + amazon rinse
When Becky and I had a sleepover in a hotel back in December, she let me keep the little free hotel samples which was AWESOME because I love tiny smelly things. I LOOOOVED the scents of all of the LATHER products. They are so unique smelling and I’m a huge fan.

BEAVER PROFESSIONAL HYDRO NUTRITIVE REPAIRING CONDITIONER // birchbox
Received this in a Birchbox, along with the shampoo. Liked it enough, but I’m really trying to step away from all of the shampoo/conditioner because I miss the no-poo feeling of my hair.

BEAUTY PROTECTOR PROTECT + SHAMPOO // birchbox
Okay except I know I just said I’m stepping away from the shampoo/conditioners, but I’m ALL ABOUT the Beauty Protect line that I discovered through Birchbox, mostly because I LOVE the smell… it reminds me of the old mary-kateandashley hair care line that I LOOOOOVED when I was younger.

MINIONS BANANA SCENTED BODY WASH // amazon
Listen, I just freaking love the smell of bananas, okay? Don’t judge.

empties v. 6 // stephanieorefice.net

YES TO COCONUT CLEANSING WIPES // target
Previously reviewed here.

TEMPTU S/B HIGHLIGHTER // birchbox
Okay… I have no idea of what to do with this. I’ve had it for a year. Goodbye.

STILA LOOK AT ME LIPSTICK // birchbox
Honestly, I loved EVERYTHING about this product except the loud color. I loved the way it went on, the way it lasted… but I couldn’t get past the weird dark coral-y color. I wanted to love it, but I’m just not that brave.

YOUNGBLOOD MINERAL PRIMER // amazon
I received this as an add-on sample with one of my Birchbox orders. Every time I used it, it would make my BB Cream get really flaky. Maybe I need to wait longer between applying the two products, but I’ve had this for a LONG time and haven’t bothered to try. Sorry primer.

STILA ONE STEP BRONZER // birchbox
Yikes you guys, this was from my FIRST EVER Birchbox. I stopped using it when I realized that it made my face REALLY shiny, like in this picture of me and my friend Andrew from like… 4 years ago or something crazy like that:

// stephanieorefice.net

yet another beauty product I have no idea how to use.

DR JART+ PREMIUM BB CREAM // birchbox
It should be absolutely no secret by now that I’m absolutely in love with the Dr. Jart+ BB Creams… but this one didn’t do anything for me. It was a little too thick and made me feel like it was OBVIOUS I was wearing a cream, which is supposed to be the beauty of BB Creams… they’re so discreet. No thanks.

DR JART+ WATER FUSE BB CREAM // birchbox
Yes. Get used to seeing this because it’s my favorite. I currently have 3 tubes of it. One in my bathroom, one as a backup for when that runs out and one in my travel bag because I refuse to be caught anywhere without it. This BB Cream is everything.

empties v. 6 // stephanieorefice.net

SOMEDAY BY JUSTIN BIEBER TOUCHABLE BODY LOTION // amazon
Reviewed the body wash here. (7/50 smelly things)

ESSENTIEL ELEMENTS WAKE UP ROSEMARY BODY LOTION // birchbox
This is the mintyish lotion ever. It weirdly helped my whole body feel very… uh… breathable? I loved the way it was so fresh and soft. The bottle was ridiculously difficult to use, but I loved the lotion. (7.5/50 smelly things)

TISSAN BODY CREAM // birchbox
Another bonus sample… I waited too long to use it, probably YEARS. When I opened it, the consistency of it just wasn’t normal AT ALL. Having so much stuff is detrimental! You forget to use what you have and then you waste it! Ugh, sorry Tissan Body Cream.

GOT2B SPA FOOT LEG WORK //
Y’all. Let me just say that I graduated from high school over 10 years ago, and I definitely owned this is high school. Half of me wanted to finish it off and half of me was like “just let it go.” and let it go I did. I remember back in the day that I loved the cooling sensation it had on my feet and legs while I used it.

CAMILLE BECKMAN HAND THERAPY // birchbox
ANOTHER SAMPLE WASTED I AM SO SORRY LITTLE SAMPLE. Birchbox is amazing but if you let yourself get overwhelmed… I’m starting to see how wasteful it can be! I opened it to use it and realized the consistency was weird, just like the other body cream.

HARVEY PRINCE AGELESS BODY CREAM // birchbox
Liked it. It was just like every other body cream, though. :/ (8/50 smelly things)

VICTORIA’S SECRET BOMBSHELL BODY LOTION // amazon
As you might have noticed in my very first Unstuffing post, I have a freaking crap ton of Victoria’s Secret smelly things. My family likes to give the little sets as Christmas gifts which would be FANTASTIC if I wasn’t so freaking overwhelmed with all of my smelly things. But I’ve discovered that I REALLY love the Bombshell fragrance. I have the perfume and a few bottles of the lotion, so I’ll be able to smell like it for awhile. (8.5/50 smelly things)

empties v. 6 // stephanieorefice.net

JUSTIN BIEBER SOMEDAY PERFUME // amazon
Reviewed the body wash here. (9.5/50 smelly things)

JOAN VASS L’EAU DE AMETHYSTE PERFUME // birchbox
The tiny perfume samples are going to be the hardest to keep track of because I’ll be able to get through them, but I want to remember what I thought of each one. This one reminded me of CLEANING PRODUCTS. It made me sneeze a lot. Thanks but no thanks. (10/50 smelly things)

HAVVN NIGHT CREAM // birchbox
Waited too long to try this. On the one hand this is so incredibly sad but also encouraging because it’s one less tiny bottle I have to look at and feel bad about. Soon I’ll be able to try my samples as soon as I get them and not feel like they’re one needle in a haystack.

SHISEIDO IBUKI REFINING MOISTURIZER // birchbox
Finally a product I was able to use. First of all, if you put a cream moisturizer in a non-squeezable bottle… you are one of THOSE PEOPLE. That was really obnoxious, but I pushed through. I liked this moisturizer enough, but there was nothing really special about it.

LA FRESH OIL FREE FACE CLEANSER // birchbox
The fact that this is a face cleanser wipe is AMAZING. I absolutely LOVED this. When I’m “on the go,” (that sounds like such a hoity toity phrase) I tend to just use the Yes to Coconuts wipes (which I’m ALWAYS worried will dry out if I don’t close the lid) or makeup removers. I loved that these are individually wrapped – you could keep a few in your purse for emergency purposes. Love it so much.

JUICE BEAUTY GREEN APPLE PEEL // birchbox
Don’t even talk to me about how long I waited to use this because I was really sad when the consistency didn’t seem at all right and I realized I’d been hoarding it for 2 years.

JUICY COUTURE HAIR MIST //
Back in the day, I got my first “grown up” job. I didn’t make TONS of money, but I made SOMETHING. One day I went shopping with one of my co-wordkers and I ALMOST bought the Juicy Couture perfume but at that point in my life, $75 was a HUUUUGE purchase (still is to some extent) so I kind of weenied out and bought the cheapest version of the smell I loved, which happened to be a hair mist. I’ve been consistently using it for almost 7 years at this point – I just use so little at a time that it’s taken years to empty. But I finally did. and I have no more Juicy Couture perfume. So I’m sad. Luckily I have a gazillion Juicy perfume samples from Birchbox 🙂

TN DICKINSONS WITCH HAZEL // amazon
Always. I use this + lemon as a face toner every day and I love it.

10/50 smelly things for my 101 in 1001.

PS THIS BLOG POST TOOK LIKE A FREAKING HOUR TO INSERT ALL THE LINKS AND STUFF. How do I get one of those accounts where you just scroll through and click products listed in the post because SERIOUSLY. I need that like yesterday. Peace sign emoji.

Empties v. 5

Get ready for this, everyone.Less than two months after my last Empties post, I’m doing another one. Unstuffing has really started to seep into many areas of my life. As I was quickly organizing the cabinet under my sink, I threw out some REALLY old body sprays… we’re talking… 2001. FOURTEEN YEARS. I’ve had them FOURTEEN YEARS!!!!! Madness, I’m telling you.

Then I realized I had a smallish pile of empty things, and since I’d been hoping to do a post monthly or bi-monthly, it was due time for me to share with you the products I’ve gone through in the past two months!

empties v. 5 // stephanieorefice.net

Some of these I completely finished and some of them I just decided it was time to retire.

empties v. 5 // stephanieorefice.net

TRAVEL WITCH HAZEL // amazon
I use witch hazel like it’s the world’s greatest thing. Normally I mix it with lemon juice and keep it in a travel bottle, but I saw this cute little size and FREAKED OUT. It was perfect to throw in the overnight bag I keep with me all the time.
Replace? Yes.

SUKI FOAMING CLEANSER // birchbox
I received a little tiny jar of this as a sample in my Birchbox a few months ago, which I wrote about in my last Empties post. This cleanser is going to become a staple for me because I LOVE how happy the smell makes me and how fun it is to use. If you ever want to have a sleepover, I’ll bring this. It’s awesome. Oh. and the jar is glass, so I definitely am cleaning it out to use for keeping my honey-cinnamon-nutmeg mask.
Replace? Yes.

BURT’S BEES INTENSE HYDRATION CREAM CLEANSER // target
Y’all I am a sucker for travel sized things, which is why I bought this cleanser that I’ll probably never use again. I have no real complaints about it just that I only bought it because it was small.
Replace? No.

PURE BODY NATURALS VITAMIN C SERUM // amazon
I first tried this serum last year, and I really enjoyed it – it made my skin feel rejuvenated and refreshed, but it was never oily or shiny. I started getting a lot of serums/moisturizers in my Birchboxes so I started trying those out more faithfully and lost interest in this Vitamin C Serum. If I were at a place where I wasn’t overwhelmed with samples, this might be a little more beneficial to me but for the time being, I didn’t mind that it was gone.
Replace? Perhaps someday.

NEUTROGENA NATURALS FRESH CLEANSING + MAKEUP REMOVER // target
This cleanser/makeup remover came into my life at about the same time the Garnier oil one that I wrote about in my last post did. I’m all in with the Garnier one. It is effective and awesome, and so this Neutrogena one was a little lackluster for me. The Garnier one is my daily makeup remover, and this Neutrogena one was kept in my shower. I don’t hate it at all, but I SWEAR BY the Garnier oil remover.
Replace? No.

LOVE & BEAUTY SHIMMER BLUSH // forever21
Sometimes I forget that I’m not an 8th grade girl, and I make 8th grade girl makeup decisions, like buying a shimmer blush. I’ve been faithfully using it but I swear to you IT NEVER GETS USED UP. So I finally decided to just quietly part ways.
Replace? No.

“LITTLE BLACK DRESS” MASCARA BY ONE DIRECTION // amazon
Awhile ago I was given the opportunity to review the Up All Night makeup collection by One Direction. One of the items was this mascara – the rest of it was BRIGHT colors that I could probably never use. I used this mascara for awhile, but eventually I found a few other mascaras I liked better and didn’t want to keep this one around for another year or so 🙂
Replace? No.

CARESS PASSIONATE SPELL BODY WASH // amazon
I loooove the smell of this. It’s a bit of a staple for me, though I recently started using a more earthy, natural smelling body wash and I might be switching over to that. OR! I should learn how to make my own, that would be awesome.
Replace? Probably

PURA D’OR LAVENDER VANILLA CONDITIONER // amazon
I was doing a great job at being no-poo for a long time, and then… I got lazy. oh and I discovered this REALLY GREAT shampoo and conditioner. Naturally, the conditioner went first because #conditioner. I absolutely loved this conditioner – the smell was so relaxing and it made my hair feel really soft but not too weighed down or oily. It’s a little expensive as far as conditioners go, but if I plow through my little tiny shampoo samples and get back into my no-poo/occasional hair product routine, then this is mine.
Replace? Maybe.

EOS SHAVE CREAM POMEGRANATE RASPBERRY // target
Love. I first bought this back in 2011, and it’s been a staple. I couldn’t find it a few weeks ago and I got the Aveeno kind, and it just doesn’t compare. I love the smell of it and obviously the color of it 😉 and I hope to one day try the other two kinds.
Replace? DEFINITELY.

OXFORD SICILIAN ORANGE BODY LOTION //
Yeah I got this at a hotel…. (6/50 smelly things)
Replace? No, and I couldn’t anyway.

BEE KIND BODY LOTION // birchbox
This was another Birchbox sample. I absolutely LOVED the fresh smell of it and the way it didn’t make me feel all greasy. It’s great. But enough to replace? Probably not, because I have enough lotion until Jesus comes back. (6.5/50 smelly things)
Replace? No.

OROFLUIDO BEAUTY ELIXIR // amazon
Um… I got this as a sample in OCTOBER 2012. AND I ONLY JUST USED IT UP! AYE AYE AYE. See my sample problem? It’s real. I’m working on it, though! I LOVED the smell of this on my hair. It did a good job of making my hair shiny without looking oily.
Replace? No; it wasn’t anything spectacular.

FRIZZ-EASE BEYOND SMOOTH CONDITIONER // target
I got this (and the shampoo + smoothing cream) in an Influenster VoxBox and as was to be expected, the conditioner went first. I actually really liked this conditioner; the smell isn’t as calming as the Pura D’or conditioner I just finished, but it made my hair feel really smooth, which is exactly what it advertises 🙂
Replace? MAYBE.

PERLIER INTENSIVE BODY BALM // birchbox
Another one from Birchbox. I REALLY liked this one – even more than the Bee Kind one. The balm is really creamy and thick and isn’t greasy but is incredibly moisturizing. I’m a big fan. It’s definitely not a lotion, it’s more of a balm. Big fan. Buuuut I don’t need any more.
Replace? No.

6.5/50 smelly things for my 101 in 1001.

Empties v. 4

It’s been two and a half months since I’ve done an empties post – definitely better than the time between the posts before that, but I’m still hoping to do a monthly (or maybe bi-monthly, depending on how much I’ve emptied!) empties post.

Empties v. 4 // stephanieorefice.net

Look at all of those things I went through!!! Let’s go through them together, shall we? 🙂

Empties v. 4 // stephanieorefice.net

YES TO COCONUT CLEANSING WIPES

I got these sent to me in a blog swap because I said I love coconut EVERYTHING. The smell of these, you guys… TO DIE FOR. and they’re really  great on your face. Sometimes wipes feel like they dry you out, or the wipes themselves are weird feeling. These are moisturizing and fresh and I’m all about them.
Replace? Already did!

SUKI FACE SCRUB

I got this teeny tiny sample in my Birchbox awhile ago and I kept it in my overnight toiletry bag… and then one day I used it and was absolutely blown away. It starts off kind of gritty, but you add some water and it suddenly has this magic foaming feel… but the gritty part is still there, so you really feel as if you’re getting a good scrub. and the smell! It’s so fresh! I love it. I bought it in the big size, and I’ve already used it up.
Replace? I leveled up, and now I need to replace the other one.

MARY-KAY CREAM EYE COLOR – VIOLET STORM

Let me be a little honest about something…. I got this eye color from Influenster…. two years ago. I haven’t used it in awhile which is why I decided to just get rid of it. I really liked the cream aspect of it, and the color (purple) was okay, but I’m more of a neutral gal, so I didn’t wear it super often.
Replace? No.

DERMA NATURAL SCAR GEL

I got this sample from BrandBacker(and I haven’t even yet reviewed it… oops). I have OCD and one of my compulsions leaves some scars. I decided this would be a great opportunity to try this product AND tackle something I’m insecure about. I’m not really sure if it worked… the scars faded a bit, but it also could have just been because of time. Things like this are a bit sketch to me.
Replace? Nope.

MARCELLE 8 in 1 SERUM

A Birchbox sample. I have no idea what it was supposed to do. I really love Birchbox but when I’m overwhelmed with samples (like I am now) I tend to switch between samples, and it makes it difficult for me to actually evaluate if I like a product or not. Unless it’s that Suki cleansing wash. Or the Eve Lom cleanser that I will one day own. Anyway. No opinion of this whatsoever.
Replace? No.

COCONUT LIME VERBENA ANTI BACTERIAL SOAP

Why do I put hand soap here? I have no idea. I stopped doing it from here on out, but whatever. It was in my little bin of empty things. I love this smell… the end.
Replace? Maybe.

NYC CHEEK GLOW

I couldn’t find the actual name of the color… oops. But I really liked it. I hate the little tiny blush brush that comes with it, though. It makes the blush go on too dark for my liking. [N.Y.C. New York Color Cheek Glow Blush , West Side Wine, 0.28 Ounce]
Replace? Already did, in another color.

MARY-KAY LASH LOVE MASCARA

Oh. My first love of mascaras. I kept the tube of mascara around for about a year after I stopped using it. My cousin got me Benefit’s Bad Girl Mascara and I LOOOVE it. But my love affair with mascara started when I got this Lash Love mascara in my Influenster Mary-Kay box. Do you know of anyone who sells Mary-Kay? I’ll be an easy sell on this one..
Replace? YES! I WANT TO SO BAD!

SOME FOUNDATION

I got this foundation as a review. I don’t know the name of it. I hated it, it was soooo thick. Not even going to acknowledge it by trying to find the name of it. Just bye.

HERBAL ESSENCES DRY SHAMPOO

I don’t wash my hair very often (I’M WEIRD I KNOW!) and sometimes that means my hair gets oily. The worst part for me is how FLAT my hair gets at the top, because my hair is already thin on the top. Dry shampoo saves my life on those days. However, I didn’t really dig this one. I like the Dove kind. This one was a little filmy for me.
Replace? No.

HARVEY PRINCE – HELLO

I don’t even know. Birchbox sends a lot of perfume samples. and I like to try a gazillion of them all the time and I never remember which ones smell like what or what I liked or not. But HEY. I USED IT UP!
Replace? Nope. {3.5/50 smelly things}

ROXY PERFUME

My dad & stepmom gave me this perfume for Christmas MANY years ago…. the problem is that I also get a lot of body sprays/mists for gifts, too. #girlproblems. It takes me FOREVER to go through ANYTHING. Which is why I have “use up 50 smelly things” on my 101 things to do in 1001 days list. I liked this scent, but not enough to turn it into a signature scent or enough to replace.
Replace? No. {4.5/50 smelly things}

ESLOR FIRMING COLLAGEN DAY CREAM

What was this supposed to do, again? :/
Replace? No.

REAL CHEMISTRY 3-MINUTE PEEL

No. Again with the not using it consistently enough to even have an idea of what it’s supposed to do. Plus I feel like it had instructions that made me feel like an idiot. But I can’t remember :/
Replace? No.

ST. IVES GREEN TEA SCRUB

Walgreens had a sale. Buy 1 St. Ives product, get a second 1/2 off plus a bunch of Walgreens rewards points. I always buy the green tea scrub in the little travel size because I loved the smell but didn’t know if I wanted to spend the money buying it. So I took the plunge. I think I was a little St. Ives’ed out for awhile, because I was SO GLAD to be done with this. I hate when I don’t wash it completely off my face because it leaves little white chalky residue.
Replace? Nope.

DERMA-E GLYCOLIC SCRUB

This is the third Empties post this has shown up on! One of them was the acne kind, which I didn’t like. This is a FANTASTIC everyday scrub to have. It’s a little spendy for an everyday face wash, but I love it so much it’s absolutely worth it for me.
Replace? Already did.

ST. IVES APRICOT SCRUB

I just assume everyone uses this scrub. I love how fresh and cleansing it is. It’s great to scrub off a long day, because it makes you feel completely rejuvenated and clean.
Replace? Yes.

GARNIER CLEAN NOURISHING CLEANSING OIL

This is actually my second empty bottle of this, but the last one kind of exploded all over at the end so I spared it public shame and quietly threw it away. Listen to me, people. RUN, don’t walk, and BUY THIS. I’ve used a variety of different makeup removing products, and this is by far my favorite. You start by rubbing it on your dry face (even on your eyes – it is AMAZING at loosening mascara) and then you rinse it off. It’s amazing.
Replace? Already did.

DICKSINSON’S PORE PERFECTING WITCH HAZEL

I’m weird and use a toner made of witch hazel and lemon juice on my face every day… well, except I haven’t for the past two months because I RAN OUT OF WITCH HAZEL and I’ve been too lazy/cheap to replace it. This is a great kind of witch hazel, too. The smell might take awhile to get used to, but it’s so great. My face is clearer than ever when this is a part of my daily routine.
Replace? Yes.

Empties v. 4 // stephanieorefice.net

Good grief. I’m not going to review every single one of these. They’re shower products. I did use up a lotion which means I’ve used up 5.5/50 smelly things.

See why I need to do one a month? They get long, I forget what I thought about the products (WOAH – maybe I should make notes of it when I finish it… DUH) && there’s SOOO MAAANNNYYYY.

Have you used any of these products before? Are you on the Birchbox train?
