5 reasons why I blog

Blogging is so freaking weird, am I right?

ESPECIALLY for “Lifestyle” bloggers. Why aren’t we just LIFE bloggers? Why lifeSTYLE? The thought of style just sounds calculated.

Last night Mary-Keith and I were texting about blogging. Because blogging is a beeeeaaaassssstttttt. And we were talking about like… what we blog about. and what we want to accomplish with our blogs. and stuff.

In a little world that is obsessed with the numbers of it all, knowing WHY I bother clicking “Add New” and start typing things is really important. Here are 5 reasons why I blog:

five reasons I blog // stephanieorefice.net

ONE //
I’ve got things to say. I just talk a lot, like all the time. And I want to say those things a lot, like all the time. So I say them with my mouth as often as I can and then I sometimes decide that I want to sit down and write them out.

TWO //
I LOOOOOVE to go back and read things I’ve written. I learn a lot from myself. #onlychildproblems.  By documenting what I’m learning while I’m learning it, I get to go back and read and think “Oh Stephanie. Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. So wrong.” But occasionally I come across moments and memories I would have forgotten forever. If only I were better at documenting these memories.

THREE //
The community is rad. Two months ago I had no idea that Mary-Keith was a living human and now we exchange text messages basically every day. Today I sent something to sweet Robyn in the mail and I got a thank you card from Susannah from her recent baby shower. I’ve stayed the night at Brittany‘s house and gone to see Wicked with Meghan. And let’s not forget about how much I LOOOOVED going to Disneyland with Jess. It’s such a cool group of people who really understand the struggles of taking nice pictures and editorial calendars and linkups and stuff.

FOUR //
You get free stuff. In the past few months, I’ve received a box of fair trade snacks, shaving cream, deodorant, coupons for Kettle Brand chips & popcorn, Almond Coconut Milk, and yogurt. It might seem like a bunch of lame, random stuff… but seriously. Opening the mailbox and finding free things is sooooo awesome.

FIVE //
Let’s be real. Having your own corner of the internet where you can write whatever the heck you want is pretty cool. I posted a picture on Facebook of the A-Frames ready to get torn down. People got really sad. So I took to my little corner of the internet, and I wrote a post about the A-Frames. It got shared like a quadrillion times on Facebook. But if I want to post about animals rolling in glitter, guess what. I can do that. Because this my freaking corner of the internet and I shall do with it what I please.

….even though I can easily identify these 5 reasons why I blog, it’s still sometimes SO HARD to figure out what to blog about, am I right!? Luckily there are linkups to help us continue to blog even when we’re kind of like “uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh zzzzzzzzzzzzzz” towards our blogs.

So.

People of the internet.

Why do you blog?
