31 days of waiting: steeping

31 days of waiting: steeping // stephanieorefice.net

Tea fascinates me.
I dip this little bag full of leaves into really hot water.
I give it some time.
and then I have a wonderful, earthy hot water beverage.

The most important part of the tea process is TIME.
I could dunk the tea bag in the water for a few seconds and I might get an off tasting cup of hot water.
But to make tea, I have to invest in waiting.

Waiting is just part of the process. A crucial part that I can’t bypass and still get a cup of tea.

God has to let us steep sometimes.
He brings together pieces of a puzzle.
Tea bags, mugs and super hot water.
Sore throats and crisp nights.
Splashes of milk and lumps of sugar.

It’s all on the table. It’s all ready.
But we have to steep. It is just part of the process.

Trusting in God will at some point – or many points, depending on how often and how deeply you are trusting – require you to steep.
There is no explaining it away, no “reason” to be discovered. We always do that, right? We always want to explain away the actions of God. The reason for this one is that it’s just part of the process.

Waiting isn’t always God’s way of telling us the time is not right. Sometimes waiting is God’s way of telling us that everything is exactly on schedule, but we need to steep for a little bit… because it’s just part of the process.
