Fall is coming, and with it comes FOOTBALL SEASON.
Some of you might be wondering about why I like football season, and here’s why: football is kind of a big deal. I noticed that a few years ago and decided… I WANT IN. I have severe FOMO (you know, the Fear of Missing Out) and I began watching football so that I could hang out with people. and I discovered that football is really fun, once you get past the fact that you’re watching a bunch of grown men wearing leggings jump on each other to keep them from carrying a ball past a line.
Since I’ve officially become a football fan, I’m excited to share a way with you to up your fun while you’re watching the game at home (homegating, if you will!) with your friends + family. The best part? These games are quick and can be played during commercial breaks so you don’t have to miss a single minute of the game! Actually… that might be the second best part. The best part might be that they require you play with your food and use Skittles®.
Here are 3 fun commercial break Skittles games, and they require very little setup.
SKITTLES SPOON SCOOP
Pour a bowl of Skittles, and surround it with 5 smaller bowls or cups (one per flavor). On the count of go, the player must take their spoon and try to sort the Skittles by color into their correct bowls. At the end of one minute, count how many Skittles have been correctly sorted. Once everyone has had a turn, the person who had the most Skittles sorted is declared the winner.
SKITTLES SUCK IT UP
This game requires two plates, a handful of Skittles, and a straw. On the count of go, the player has one minute to take a straw, suck up a Skittle on the other end, and transfer it to the next plate. This is especially difficult if people are talking/laughing while you are trying to do this. After everyone has had a turn, the person who transferred the most Skittles is the winner.
SKITTLES SORTER
This game is almost exactly like the Spoon Scoop, except you give each player two colors and they must fight to grab their colors out of the same bowl of Skittles and after one minute, whichever player has the most Skittles in their bowls is the winner.
Make sure you have an extra bag of Skittles to award to the winner – my mom dominated and walked away with her own 14 oz bag of Skittles, which I found at our local Fred Meyer in the candy aisle.
Right now, Skittles is encouraging you to Call an Eatible and enter to win NFL tickets and NFLShop.com gift cards! Simply purchase any Skittles product up to 14 oz and submit your receipt here to be entered.
So now I want to just eat my weight in Skittles. Ha!
I love those quick, minute-to-win-it type of games!! I bet this would be super fun in a youth group!
I was thinking this too!
This is awesome!!! They would be great for a commercial break contest and then half-time “playoffs” too. Love it! 🙂
