DIY Super Simple Coffee Scrub

Last year I realized that coffee scrubs are two things:

  • 1. cool

and

  • 2. expensive

So I decided… hey, I’m just going to make my own freaking coffee scrub AND I’m going to give it away to my friends. But let me be honest… I didn’t give many of them away because I loved them so much myself. It’s really simple to make, and who doesn’t want to be like “I love coffee so much that I BATHE IN IT?”

Also. You know how that St. Ives Apricot Scrub is like a STAPLE for your bathroom to get your face scrub on? This coffee scrub is even scrubbier, just saying.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 cup of coffee grounds (I just collect the ones I’ve already used for coffee)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of melted coconut oil

OPTIONAL: Essential oils

Ready for this? It’s seriously SO SIMPLE.

Melt the coconut oil. Mix the coffee grounds + sugar. Add 10-15 drops of essential oils (my favorite combo so far is orange + lemongrass). Store in a jar (I found mine in the dollar section at Target, and at Christmas they were half off – they were 3 for $1.50! but here are some great ones, too). I keep mine in the shower and extras are stored in the fridge (weird, I know but I don’t want the coconut oil to get all melty!).

THERE YOU HAVE IT! It’s super simple and seriously SO GOOD.

  • This is such a good DIY! I can never understand why some scrubs are SO ridiculously expensive.

    • right?! i saw one the other day that was like $50 and i was like… omg NO!!!! you’ll have to try it 🙂

  • That’s amazing! Annnd I just got an essential oil randomly for Christmas. Maybe if it smells good I can use it!

    • oooh! which one is it?? if not you can borrow some of mine 🙂

  • Doesn’t that stuff smell too coffee-ee? I love coffee but I don’t know if I’m that committed!

    • nope!! i feel like mine is way more citrus-y. i’ll have to make you some ;D

  • I already thought this was a good idea when I started the post, and then you mentioned how this is even scrubbier than st. Ives apricot scrub, which my husband LOVES (but is too intense for my easily-dried out skin). When his y2k, Amazon-ordered supply runs out, I’m definitely going to make him this! And I’m pinning it. 🙂

    • bahahahahahhaa y2k supply i freaking love it. i tend to stock up on st ives when its on sale – the other day i was at target and i almost bought some because i’m lazy but reminded myself how much more i like the coffee scrub. you’ll have to tell me once you try it!

  • This is awesome! And having my face smell like coffee is not my smallest reason for thinking that.

    • hahaha i seriously feel like such a bad-a when i scrub my face with coffee ;D

  • I’ve always wanted to try this but just never have. Now I will, thank you friend! Also cute pictures!
