coffee talk

pretend we each have a cup of coffee. yours can have any kind of creamer you want, mine is probably black. if we’re at my house i’d let you pick any mug you choose.

okay good. now.

i just want to say this.

i’m exhausted. it’s a good exhausted, but it’s still heavy. it’s hard for me to go to sleep at night and even harder to wake up in the morning.

we started up our church programs a few weeks ago and went from having kids and programs one night a week to three. and i love the kids and they’re wonderful and the programs are fun… but my body is still adjusting to the schedule.

but those kids, you guys. i was trying to teach two little girls how to play hot cross buns. not only had they never heard the song… they thought it was CALL ME MAYBE! so funny.

i was picking a kid up from school and this mom recognized me and asked me about picking her daughter up as well… it feels cool to be recognized by people in our community because it reminds me that the ministry i get to be a part of isnt just limited to the people in our church.

whole 30 is going awesome. today is day 19, and a few times i’ve actually forgotten what day i was on because i’m not necessarily counting down until freedom. and yesterday i attempted to make vegan/paleo/whole 30 approved pumpkin spice coconut milk creamer because at this point that’s what i’m missing the most. it’s pretty good.

so that’s where i’m at these days.

what about you?

I don’t really have anything to say, just figured I’d let you know I did actually have coffee while reading. And I enjoy reading little updates like this.

aw yay!!!! && i’m glad. i actually wrote it from my phone, which felt SUPER honest… probably because it was like i was sending out a text!

First of all, lately my creamer has been irish cream and I’ve brought my own mug because I just got the cutest new one. Next I’d tell you that you’re rockin at life and you’ll adjust to the schedule soon. Kids are the best to work with, especially when they don’t know old songs…NSYNC anyone? haha

irish cream… i’ve never been able to get into that one.
      && THANKS for the encouragement.
i can’t believe kids don’t know nsync. how about the time i tried to tell one about how i watched the original show “girl meets world” was based off of, and she asked if it aired IN COLOR OR IN BLACK AND WHITE. what.

Being tired is where I am too, girl. It’s just about pushing through hoping that there is a light coming soon.

    • October 12, 2015 / 11:02 pm

yes!!! i think my light is just readjusting to a new schedule and getting my head above water… slowly but surely!! i hope the same happens for you – that you can find sufficient rest 🙂

Ministry is a very tiring but very rewarding way of life. I totally get where you’re coming from. But I wouldn’t trade my life for anything, except for maybe insert a few more days of rest and rejuvenation here and there. As for the coffee, I’ve been weaning myself away from creamer. Black, with sweetener (if that’s still considered black!). Thinking it’s time to kick the sweetener to the curb too.

AMEN! it’s such a blessing to be able to be in ministry full-time… but so exhausting when done from the heart! but there are way worse ways to be exhausted, like a hamster wheel where you just do the same thing over and over with no purpose or end in sight.

& you should try coconut milk! ;D

I feel ya on being exhausted, 7:30am-6pm days with no breaks are killing me. Also had a near-death computer experience. We’re all still breathing over here though (well, not my computer… but it works!) so I can’t complain too much.

Hope your sleep improves and your blessings continue to outweigh your stresses 🙂

    • October 12, 2015 / 11:04 pm

okay what! near death computer experience?!? sounds like your computer is shutting down too haha. your days are SOOOOO LONG. are you able to get good rest when the rest is available? <3

    1. i love update posts like these that are just like, hey this is where i’m at. 2. being exhausted is my arch nemesis! i pick sleep over………almost anything else just to avoid being tired. 3. it’s so awesome that people in the community recognize you and you’re so right, your ministry isn’t limited to inside a church.

    • October 12, 2015 / 11:05 pm

YAY. i’m glad. still working on the balance of everything (i feel like i keep saying that over and over and over, because i haven’t yet found that balance… but honestly i haven’t really taken time to figure it out haha)

and hello you being pregnant probably makes you ultra tired, right? growing a human and all!!!

      • October 13, 2015 / 3:46 am

Haha ummm thanks for giving me that excuse for why I’m tired/hate being tired, but really…..it’s more like i’ve always been this way and now I suddenly have an excuse haha

Awww, I love that your exhaustion is a good kind of exhaustion. I wish mine was… I’m just so darn tired. It’s worrying me because I usually feel recharged in the fall but this year is an off year. Hopefully I shake that soon! Also, that creamer sounds AMAZING!

    • October 12, 2015 / 11:05 pm

HI DID I SEE THAT YOU WON A GIVEAWAY???
what do you think is different about this year?
the creamer is okay. definitely not AMAZING but i guess when you have limited options it’s pretty good haha.

      • October 13, 2015 / 6:16 am

I did win a giveaway!! I NEVER WIN ANYTHING! I’m so pumped! 🙂
I think the biggest difference is how much my husband and I have going on. Our first two (married) falls we had more free time and I could carve pumpkins and plan parties (because fall and winter are the best time for parties), but his business is growing rapidly and I work two jobs and we are trying to do stuff in our home and personal life so the days are just getting away from us. Maybe we need to slow down a little and enjoy 🙂
