Last Wednesday, we were watching Catfish (which was a huge victory for me and you can find out why here) and I saw that MTV was attempting their stupid CHATFISH thing again. NO THANK YOU. I got frustrated and IMMEDIATELY FaceTimed Lauren, who I KNEW would be watching Catfish.
One thing lead to another….
and we realized that we have matching remotes.
Naturally, Lauren taped my 3rd grade picture to the back of her remote and I taped Lauren’s 2nd or 3rd grade picture to the back of mine. So now when we look at our remotes we can think of each other.
Lauren is Emily‘s younger sister. A few weeks ago I was FaceTiming with Lauren, who is a senior in high school, and I told her something weird. I told her to identify a 6-year-old girl in her life and imagine that one day that 6-year-old girl would be her best friend, because I met 6-year-old Lauren the summer after I graduated from high school.
I’ve always been so amazed and impressed by Lauren’s compassion. Even when she was little, she was so aware and sensitive to the needs and hurts of others and that quality has continued to grow and bloom in her life. It’s an absolute treat having been able to watch my best friends grow up, and Lauren might be the greatest delight of them all because she is the youngest.
She reminds me so much of all the things I love about her mom – her tender heart and her feistiness. One summer I was her supervisor at camp and prior to her arrival, staff members asked me what my biggest fear of my summer job was and I said her name. Lauren has never been shy about speaking her mind and standing firm on what she knows is true.
There’s so much more to say about Lauren. I miss her every day I’m not around her and knowing her has helped make me the person I am today. <3
I swear I already read this. But then I didnt see those pictures. Then I remembered you told me about it. I love your JB shirts
