Day 20. Holiday
My friend Nathan and his adorable girlfriend were in Portland for a brief second. Jessica and I went to meet up with them, and we were absolutely DELIGHTED to realize/discover that the parking was FREE because it was a holiday. It’s the little things.

Day 21. Jim & Patty’s
At the very last minute we cancelled our youth programs, but I still picked up a few kids from school. We always talk about how one day I should pick them up and take them to Jim & Patty’s, so this seemed like the PERFECT opportunity to do that.

Day 22. Frosties, French Fries & Farkle
I’m on a small mission to spend time with every kid from my church in a non-church setting. I picked up four girls who live in the same neighborhood and took them to Wendy’s where we enjoyed dipping our french fries in our frosties (SO GOOD, AM I RIGHT?) and I taught them how to play Farkle.

Day 23. Lamp
Awhile ago I saw this wonderful white and gold lamp at Target. I didn’t get it the first time I saw it and fell in love, and realized that I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE after that! When I finally found it, I grabbed it right away. I LOVE it.

Day 24. #EmptyShelf
The other day I was perusing Jon Acuff’s blog and stumbled upon this #EmptyShelf challenge. The idea of it is you clear off a shelf and then over the course of a year you fill it with all the books you’ve read. The idea is actually completely counter intuitive to my bookshelf system. My bookshelf is full of books I’ve never actually read. Not only that, but I have a giant overflow pile next to it. Cleaning out my shelf made that overflow pile a little ridiculous. Guess I gotta get my read on.

Day 25. Coconut oil
I LOVE & SWEAR BY coconut oil. But a couple months ago…. I ran out. I’m not necessarily some coconut oil elitist or anything, but I’ve only ever purchased one brand of coconut oil and I love it. Unfortunately it’s kind of pricey – $34 for a big jar and $20 for a small one. and I refuse to buy it full price. As I checked the price of coconut oil a few days earlier, I told my mom I only buy it when it’s on sale. The next time I went to the store, the big jar was on sale for $20 and I was stupid excited to finally have my beloved coconut oil back.

Day 26. Miracles
Since June I’ve been taking the Junior Church on an adventure through the Gospel of John. We are on a scavenger hunt for the 7 times Jesus said “I AM” and the 7 miracles he performed. We’re only in chapter 6 (we are slow and thorough) and we found another one – Jesus feeding the 5,000!

Day 27. Nashville
In September, I visited Nashville for the first time (I forgot to do a part 2 of my Nashville trip… oops!). I kept trying to figure out how and when I could visit, and then one day I realized that with the price of plane tickets to Nashville on Southwest I could get a free flight and suddenly I had a 39 day countdown to Nashville. Every day I would count how many days were left before my trip. This was when it got real, because the number was TWO.

Day 28. Black Tiger
I’m not really a big coffee snob or anything, but there is one kind of coffee that I am crazy about and it’s Jim & Patty’s Black Tiger blend. I don’t know what it is but I LOVE IT. I’d wanted to take it to Ernie the last time I visited but ran out of time – so when my friend Jess wanted to meet for coffee I was SO EXCITED to pick up a bag to take with me. I’m all about Jim & Patty’s.
