Thankful Thursday [1]

uncategorized

Linked up with Sar and Meghan.

Okay. Two people I love are doing a weekly link up in November all about being thankful. Which is great, because on Sunday, Hilary’s sermon was all about naming our gifts and really appreciating them. We even got this little book to carry around with us and write down God’s gifts to us. So far, mine says “Potluck” and then the e-mail address of a girl who liked my shoes in Powell’s. There’s definitely more than that.

I’m thankful for the aforementioned glitter shoes. They were only $10 at Target and I almost didn’t get them, but Cassie insisted I buy them. I am easily peer pressured into glitter shoe purchases.

These four. They make me laugh and just by being a part of my life, they challenge me to be a better person. Over the past year, they have seen me at all times of the day in all kinds of moods doing all kinds of things. And yet they love me. It inspires me to always choose the way of Jesus when I come to a fork in the road.

Portland, Oregon.

Not just the city, but what it means to me. It is home. For years I have floated to and fro about the west coast, settling down for a few months here and there, but never saying or knowing “this is home.” Things about Portland are starting to feel like home. Powell’s, the Zoo, the street names of north Portland.. they’re all becoming more and more familiar and more and more welcoming.

Coffee.

That one… super self explanatory.

NaNoWriMo.

I’m thankful for NaNoWriMo for a variety of reasons. First, I’m thankful for it because I’m suddenly very productive in many areas of my life. I’ve e-mailed everyone back, written some letters, thoroughly cleaned my room… haha, everything but write.

But really, I’m thankful for the challenge to be serious about writing. So far I’ve written 1,153 words for today. That’s a decent amount, though it really puts the whole 1,667 words a day thing into perspective. It’s a weightier challenge than I’d initially realized.
