Empties V .7

empties volume 7 // stephanieorefice.net

After last month’s MASSIVE spree of going through products, this was a fairly normal month. A few full-sized products and DESTROYING my collection of trial/travel sized stuff.

I realized that to some extent, my empties posts are actually part of my decluttering. Like a long-term mission to declutter my bathroom. Because SERIOUSLY, you guys… my bathroom is a HOT MESS.

ALL. THE. THINGS. I have so many beauty products and smelly things and I just want to keep using them up. For half a second, I considered just getting rid of stuff so that I can seriously de-clutter what’s left, BUT I think there’s a lot of value in forcing myself to use up products. Some de-clutterers would disagree, but I think I run a greater risk of immediately replacing what I’ve thrown away as opposed to what I’ve used up, if that makes sense.

ANYWAY. Moving on. Things that I’ve gone through in September!

HERBAL ESSENCES DRY SHAMPOO // amazon

Awhile ago I reviewed this and when I re-read it… I realized it’s still true. It was filmy and made my hair feel weird sooooo… I was over it. No thank you.

SIENNA NATURALS MOISTURIZING LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER // birchbox

From Birchbox. I really liked this leave-in conditioner, but I don’t think it’s worth investing in the full-size product.

BEAVER PROFESSIONAL HYDRO NUTRITIVE REPAIRING CONDITIONER // birchbox

Wasn’t anything great.

JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ EASE BEYOND SMOOTH SHAMPOO // target

I’m trying to cut back on my shampooing. That makes it sound like I eat shampoo. I don’t. But I want to get back into the no-poo thing. HOWEVER. I really liked this shampoo. My hair felt really soft after I used it.

DOVE DRY SHAMPOO // amazon

YES YES YES. This, so far, is STILL my favorite. It takes away the greasiness of my scalp but doesn’t make my hair feel filmy. I tried using that Herbal Essence dry shampoo when this ran out, and I was so disappointed. I’m trying another kind right now as well… but I might have to always keep this on hand if I feel the need to try new things.

PARIS AMOUR LOTION (full + travel size) // amazon

I LOOOVE this scent. I think I used to have a candle of it! I’ve been trying to use lotion on my legs a lot because as weird as this is… I love when I get home from work and change into my pajamas and then I am reminded that I put lotion on my legs in the morning.

(11.5/50 smelly things for my 101 in 1001)

AVEENO POSITIVELY SMOOTH SHAVE GEL // target

I was hoping to try a new kind of EOS (the lavender or vanilla kind) but they didn’t have it at Target! So instead, I grabbed this Aveeno shave gel. I wasn’t really a fan of it. It didn’t have a super pleasant smell and it didn’t feel spectacular or anything.

RIMMEL LONDON JUST LET IT GO MAKEUP REMOVER

I got this in an Influenster VoxBox last year. I really liked this, but I can’t find it anywhere! Has anybody used this before? Or does anyone have any good eye makeup removers to recommend?

MARCELLE CLAY MASK // birchbox

I think I’ve said it before; masks kind of all feel the same after awhile, but I REALLY liked this one. Enough to buy it? No, because I have too many and I’m cheap. But I really liked it.

ACURE DAY CREAM // target

I LOVED THIS! I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!! I still have a lot of serum/moisturizers to go through, but once I’m ready to invest in a daily facial moisturizer… this is it. It made my face feel soft and moisturized but not greasy. I love it.

MARCELLE GENTLE EYE MAKEUP REMOVER // birchbox

I kept this in my travel bag, but when the Rimmel kind ran out I started using this.. not a fan. It wasn’t as effective as the other kind. Next.

MARCELLE ENERGIZING HYDRATING GEL // birchbox

Loved this. It actually made my face feel more energized when I put it on, which was like MAGIC! I don’t know if I’d ever buy it… because how many products does one person need?

  • i’ve been thinking about using dry shampoo… but the kind i used a while back was kinda weird… so i may just have to try this Dove one you suggest! 🙂

    • ok… done thinking about it. i just bought it off Amazon! and i hope that was a referral link you used so you get some $$$! 🙂

      • AW YEAH!! let me know what you think of it!! <3 have you ever tried the baptiste kind? i feel like that's one of the originals, and i'm dying to try that.

  • i’m so glad you mentioned the dove dry shampoo and how great it is. i read somewhere online (was it here? have we talked about this before?) that dove’s dry shampoo was the best, and i figured it HAD to be better than the crappy piece of crap tresemme crap that i’m using now. that stuff makes my brown hair turn gray, even when i brush it out! i haven’t run out of my dry shampoo yet (and thus warranted buying the dove stuff), but when i do, i know what i’m going for next!

    • i’ve mentioned that i love dove’s before. do you like… rub it into your scalp/ like as if you were actually sudsing your hair in the shower? i let it sit for like 5 minutes and then i work it into my scalp. it usually gets rid of the white parts. but if not… DOVE!!!

      • Hmmm, I’ve never rubbed it in like that–I usually spray and then brush out after a few minutes. I’ll have to try that tho!!

        • definitely try that! and let me know how it goes 😀

  • Sophia Rodriguez

I’ve used the Dove dry shampoo before and thought it was okay. It’s definitely worked better than any other dry shampoo I’ve tried. Maybe I’m setting my standards too high with dry shampoo? Haha.
I love reading these posts! (:

    • haha which ones have you tried? i really want to try the baptiste kind… mostly because they have different scents. but for now, i still love the dove kind. i’m using the “not your mother’s” kind right now. it’s pretty good as well.

      • Sophia Rodriguez

I’ve only tried three different brands, but different types from each brand. The other two brands I’ve tried is Beyond The Zone and Ion from Sally’s. I REALLY wish I had an Ulta in my town. I want to try the Batiste kind too, I’ve heard such great things about it!

  • I was watching sharktank the other day and saw this little thing called the spatty. Google it. I feel like you need it. I immediately thought of you. I feel like if I did an empty series there would like MAYBE one thing a month ha! I’m the worst about finishing stuff.

    • WHAAATTTT!!!! that’s crazy! except i actually am like “YES I HAVE FINISHED THIS!!!” and might go insane to be like.. i can’t get any more out of this bottle but oh wait here’s this thing that will keep it going for like 3 more weeks. haha. i just rinse whatever is left. :/

do you buy more of the stuff? i feel like that’s the thing i’ve had to do is start focusing on using up one thing at a time or else i’d constantly be jumping around and not emptying ANYTHING.

  • I have that Herbal Essences Body Envy dry shampoo too and I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m still trying to use it up somewhat, but every time I use it I feel like I would have been better off using nothing and embracing the greasy mess. haha. I might have to check out the Dove one when I finally dispose of it.

I also have wayyyy too many bath/ body/ make up products that I need to use up and get rid of. I just love trying new things and then never using them again… oops.
